The movie ‘P.S I Love You’ is about a young woman named Holly who sadly becomes a widow when her husband Gerry’s life is taken away by an illness. Struggling to move on, her friends and family can’t do anything to make her forget about the past; but on her 30th birthday, a message arrives in the form of a birthday cake and attached to it is a tape recording from Gerry giving her the instructions to go and celebrate for her birthday. In the next few weeks and months, letters start arriving all written from Gerry delivered in surprising ways and all signed off saying ‘P.S I Love You’. These letters planned in such a particular way before the death of Gerry helped Holly move on further in the future and start a new life.
I thought this movie was truly phenomenal because it was so heart-felt and very romantic. It was a love story that had very unexpected twists to it and was very unique.
I thought Hilary Swank who played the main character, Holly, did an excellent job of the roll because you could feel the sorrow she had as a widow and how after each letter she received, she would get a little more excited which would brighten up her entire day. One other actor that I thought played his roll very well was Gerard Butler who played Gerry because he mostly acted only at the start of the film but left a perfect memory of the wonderful man he used to be before his life was taken away. It made it easy for the audience of the movie to really see why Holly was so madly in love with this man and why it was so hard for her to get over him after his death.
In my opinion, I found this movie breathtaking and a success. I would recommend it to teenagers and adults and particularly to those who love a great love story. It had a great plot and was very catchy, right from the beginning.
