The final bell rang and Mr. Simms took a deep breath. He was now on holiday! No more homework to mark, no more alarms ringing at 6 in the morning; he was finally free. He said goodbye to all the teachers and students and rushed home. He had to begin packing to start his holiday at once. Australia was waiting for him with its beautiful beaches and excellent surfing opportunities. Mr. Simms was going there alone for three days, leaving his wife behind, to bring back old memories; just him and his surfboard.
It was now 4am and Mr. Simms was driving to the airport very excited. It would be a long flight from Cyprus but all he could think about were the warm, sandy beaches and those killer waves. After two and a half hours, he was finally on the airplane strapping his seatbelt and getting ready for take-off. Since he was a small boy, Mr. Simms had a passion for airplanes and wanted to become a pilot. After almost reaching his dream carrier, the last and most important test let him down. He was colorblind and he could never fly a plane. That’s why he was very excited to be on one right now.
The warm sun was hitting on his skin and his heart was racing. Mr. Simms was in Australia, walking to the beach after checking in the hotel, with his surfboard in one hand and towel on the other. He rented a sun bed, put his towel down and ran into the sea with his surfboard. So many people were surfing on those enormous waves and he just had to join the excitement. He swam a little deeper into the sea and finally caught a great wave. He thought he was so ready but to his disappointment he fell off his board a few seconds later. Mr. Simms remembered surfing so much easier but he reassured himself that all he needed was a bit more practice.
After quite a few falls, Mr. Simms finally got the idea and started getting better. At the end of the day, he became much more confident and he was ready to go back to his hotel room to have a rest. Though very exhausting, that day was one of the best he had in years.
The next three days, Mr. Simms relaxed and surfed, but couldn’t stop worrying about his pregnant wife. Although he was having the best time, he missed her like crazy and thought it was about time to go back home to her. He wanted to be with her the last few days before the baby would be born. After a long day in the sun, Mr. Simms decided to go back to his hotel room and pack all his memories of Australia behind.
It was 7 am and Mr. Simms arrived home. His beautiful wife was waiting for him at the door and he ran to her and gave her a huge hug. His holiday wasn’t over yet, in fact it was just beginning. A holiday to remember and soon the birth of his child would make it even more special than it already was.
