ONE'S EGO CAN CAUSE A TRAGIC DOWNFALL

Yes it can because if you have a big ego then you always think your right which might result to relationships with friends or family ending. People with big egos don't listen to anyone else's opinions and believe everyone's point of view is wrong.

NATURE IS FILLED WITH HARSH CRUELTIES

I dissagree with this because nature has many wonderful things and i deffinatly don't think that it is filled with harsh cruelties. In my opinion it is balanced; if we do something bad to effect nature in a wrong way, it will repay us with natural disasters. If we respect nature and treat it well though, it will stay beautiful for us.

MURDER IS A CRIME AND A SIN-IT CAN NEVER BE JUSTIFIED

I think murder is a terrible crime but i do believe that it can sometimes be justified. Murder could be committed due to self-defence or even madness and i think that sometimes it's not the murderer's fault. I'm not saying that it's ever okay to even have the choice to take somebody's life but i do think that sometime's there could be a good enough reason to justify this act.

Epistolary

Conny Champs and Rudy Lorsome

My Dear Conny,

One glance at your angelic face that night at the Champs hotel party, I couldn’t lay my eyes off you. The sight of that beautiful face sitting by the bar had struck me like no one else before. Since I have been arrested while serving as a waiter at your hotel party the other night, I can’t get you out of my head so I decided to write to you. You might be wondering why I was arrested and put in jail…who am I kidding; a magnificent woman like you probably wouldn’t even be thinking about a low-class guy that I am. I’m sure you have many men, much more attractive than me, asking for your hand in marriage. I’d like to give it a try though so let me just tell you a little bit about myself and why I’m here. I was born in Austria, Vienna to a middle class family and my father worked as a construction worker while my mother was at home with me. When I was about 21, I moved to New York to find a job but let’s just say it didn’t really work out for me. Because I was very low in money, I decided to kidnap a child in demand of money. You might think I was very wrong of doing this but it worked out very well and I started getting a lot of money so I did it again and again. This past year though, I’ve been in and out of jail and I realized it’s going to be trickier than I thought. Please don’t think I’m crazy and please answer back, tell me a little bit about yourself…

All my love, Rudy

Dear Rudy,

You don’t know how delighted I am to hear from you! That party the other night simply bored me to death but when you appeared and started to talk to me, I felt that I had finally found one decent gentleman that dint blabber on about how much money he has. Reading your letter, I realized what an exciting life you have that I could only ever dream about. I mean I’m already in my 30s and I still live in this big old mansion with my parents and their worthless money. It really isn’t very exciting when you own hotels all around the world and all you have is money. Oh Rudy, I can’t take it anymore, I’m so lonely right now and all I want to do is to move into a small house and start a family. You’re the only one I feel understands me and the only one I feel comfortable enough to talk to. I wouldn’t normally be telling this to anyone either but I have a drinking problem and I know it’s something terrible bit I don’t know how to help myself.

I can’t wait for your reply,

All my love, Conny

Ps. how are they treating you in prison?

My dearest Conny,

I was so happy to receive your letter. All these days here have been quite scary and disturbing. One of my fellow cell mates almost died today because one of the other prisoners was going around with a pocket knife and stabbed him early this morning. I can’t wait to get out of here and finally come see you. Conny, you might think I’m crazy but from the moment I met you, I fell in love with you. I just feel that there was a strong connection between us… When I read that you have a drinking problem, it brought back so many memories; you see my mother was an alcoholic and it was very hard for her and our family at that time. Slowly though, with the help of my father and a psychologist she would go to every week, she got over it and never touched a drink again. So you see you don’t need to worry about it because once were together, I can help you and we’ll get over your little problem. I know how you feel because I’ve already passed through this with my mother.

I’m here for you Conny.

All my love, Rudy

My dear Rudy,

It makes me feel so much better to know that I can talk to you about anything and to know that you understand how I feel. Rudy, it sounds absolutely awful at the prison and I’m very worried about you, I just want you to get out of that dump so we can run away together. You’ve finally brought some excitement in my life and I want to take that chance now that I can. However long it takes, I will be waiting for you right here; I love you Rudy.

All my love, Conny

The River

“Would you go with me?” asked Nick
“I would love to” said Lucy

Nick and Lucy went to prom as happy as children going to a circus. When they arrived, they went straight to the dance floor and started to dance intimately like a husband and wife in love. Later on that night, Lucy became tired so Nick decided to take Lucy home so they said goodbye to all their friends and got in the car.
By now, it was 2:00 am and Nick and Lucy were in the car together talking about what a wonderful night they had. Nick turned on the radio and put some slow romantic music and suddenly turned in a different direction than the way which lead to Lucy’s house. Lucy was confused; Nick was supposed to take her straight home.
“Nick? My house isn’t this way, where are we going?” asked Lucy.
“I know, I just thought that we could spend a little time alone before I took you home. There’s this nice lake nearby where we can stop the car; I thought it would be ok with you...”
“Oh yeah I guess we could go there just for a little while”.

Soon they arrived by the lake; Nick stoped the car and put the music even louder. He leaned forward to kiss her. Slowly, he started unbuttoning the top of her dress and sliped his hand inside. Lucy, frightened, backed away.
“Baby, what are you doing? I thought this was our night” Nick says surprised
“I’m sorry, I don’t know if I’m ready tonight” Lucy replied buttoning up her dress again
“Come on baby” Nick said as he pushed Lucy against the door.
Lucy finally gave in and let him slip his hand in her dress. She felt uncomfortable though but tried to stop herself from refusing. Suddenly she couldn’t take it anymore and new she really didn’t want to do this.
“Nick, stop… I don’t want to.”
He carried on though and made Lucy feel trapped and scared. Her heart started beating fast and she finally pushed him off her and got out of the car; she ran as fast as she could as she heard his voice calling after her in the distance. Lucy never turned back until she found the driveway that led back to her house.

Isabelle Loe

Isabelle Loe was born on the 13Th of February,1954 in Florence, Italy. At the young age of 15, she had almost drowned in a nearby beach on a family trip which had changed her life forever.

Early life
Isabelle grew up in Florence with her mother Eliza Loe, a well-payed movie star from Los Angeles,California who wasn't around much in her daughter's life, and her father Nicholas Loe,born in Florence, who Isabelle was very fond of since he usually played the part of both mother and father in his daughter's life. As a child, Isabelle was quite the opposite of her mother; she was a very shy girl and never had many friends. Isabelle had no siblings and was very lonely in her big house. The only person she loved to talk to was her father. She attended the Williams Middle School and was a very clever student but always preferred art than any other studies.
The Beach
In 1972, at the age of 15, Isabelle had gone on a family day trip with her parents to the Florence beach. These day trips were very special to her because her family was rarely together. The day turned out to be something worse than special though.
It isn't very clear to what really happened to Isabelle but it has been said that when she was walking into the sea, a huge wave had taken her into the very deep and deadly waters where she struggled for her life. After almost drowning, a wave had thrown her back out onto the sandy beach which was now mysteriously deserted.
Finding shelter
Isabelle had never found her parents again. All alone, she had to find shelter so she decided to go and live in the lighthouse on a little hill just above the Florence Beach. After spending time there, she realised that she could no longer talk but oddly, she could mime instead. Her appearance had also bizarrely changed; she was now very pale white with very shadowy eyes and resembled very much of a mime.

Supernatural abilities

Years slowly passed and Isabelle would go down to that same beach every day in search of her parents. There, she decided to start doing mimes for people but the only people that she would perform for were the people that reminded her of her parents. The first time Isabelle performed for a stranger at the beach, she discovered something she never new she could do before. She discovered that once she caught someones attention, she could hypnotize them and and take away their soul. Isabelle started taking one soul every day and keeping it in a big box in the lighthouse. Nobody luckily new her secret.
New Identities
As this became Isabelle's new way of life, she decided to try something different. Isabelle drank a soul and to her surprise, she was transformed into a new identity. From then on, every night Isabelle would drink a soul and go out as a different person.

Poverty in Haiti

Haiti is an extremely poor country and is one of the poorest countries in the developing world. Haiti has a very short life expectancy which is only 57 years compared with Latin American average of 69 years. In this unfortunate country there is very poor health and unsanitary conditions. About one-fourth of the population has access to safe water. Moreover, the Haitian population is increasing at a high rate estimated at almost 200,000 people per year.
All this is happening because of political instability, corruption, and no private investments. Haiti is a highly welcomed development which has resulted in some progress. The most important problems of governance stay at the core of the country’s poverty.

Poverty trap is the interaction of some various factors as well as high population and growth. Some aspects of the trap are highlands, rampant, environmental degradation, especially in rural areas which increase the crime and violence, the systematic abuse of the human rights and the outward migration from this country. All this results in an increase in poverty and the associated human, physical, social, and environmental degradation.
The main reasons that Haiti is so poor are because of the long history of political oppression, lack of knowledge and literacy because most are too poor to pay for education, and it is large population in a small country.

To solve this big problem, Haiti needs to refocus the government’s role in different areas like public order, economic stability, securing property rights, and help increase conditions of health and education. These solutions will take years though and outside investment is the key, but it requires stability. The problem that needs urgently to be solved now is the access to food in Haiti. People are dying without the right amount of food and we need to quickly do whatever possible to solve this problem.

Poverty will not reduce in Haiti overnight though. It will take much effort and many problems to come to final progress which will be very slow. The result though, which will be a better life for the Haitians and their children will be a great result. The challenge that will be faced for all those concerned with the Haitian development is to identify a logical set of priorities in which efforts can be made for an effective result.

One start to help poverty in Haiti is an organization that has been made called Focopau- Haiti foundation against poverty. This foundation has been made since 1998 to improve standard of living in Haiti. It is a nonprofit organization which mostly serves in Port-au-Prince. They help the poor, widowed, orphaned, and needy. The foundation has currently 3,000 members and is working in the poorest areas of Haiti like Cite Soleil, Lilavios, Bon Repos, The Plaine, Gonaives, Titanyin, Artibonite, and Les Cayes. Some of the programs Focopau is working on are basic education, promotion of women, food distribution, orphanage, and health center.

I find poverty generally very upsetting but when I saw how bad it is in Haiti, I could never imagine what these poor Haitians go through in their life. Families are suffering so badly that they even have to use violence to get food for their starving children. It is so unfair for them to suffer like this with hardly any food and shelter. We really need to do something to stop this from happening anymore because more and more people are suffering and sadly dying.

Weekend in Greece

It was 7am and the whole group was getting ready to go on the plane. We were flying with Cyprus airways and it would take about an hour and a half to get to Athens. Once we arrived after a fast plane ride and got our luggage, we got on a bus that took us to our hotel which was in Omonia and was quite far from the airport.

We finally arrived at the hotel at around 10:30 and we all checked into our hotel rooms. We were then given a two-hour break to unpack and rest and then we would start the day in Athens.

The first place we went to was an ancient olympic stadium in which the olympics used to take place years ago. This stadium is called Kallimarmaro Stadium.

After the Kallimaro stadium, we walked up to the Parthenon in Akropolis and our tour guide talked to us about its history. It was very nice to look at the beautiful view but unfortunately it started raining.

On Saturday morning, we went to the mall in Nerantziotissa and spent 4 hours there. It was a very big mall with many shops which we have in Cyprus but also many that we dont. It was a lot of fun and we bought many things.
After the mall we waited for the metro to come so we could go back to our hotel. It was nice to go in the metro because we saw lots of things throught the windows and some very beautiful scenery.
That night, after a rest at the hotel, we went to this area called Monastiraki where we saw this small chapel called a monastiri. We then ate at a restaurant and walked around a bit and looked in some souvenire shops.

On Sunday morning, we went to Sintagma square where we watched the change of guards. It was very interesting to watch and i really enjoyed it having never watched this before. We got to see the traditional costumes that the soldiers wore which was nice.

After Sintagma square, we had to go to a museum where we filled in a worksheet of different statues there and their discriptions. Then, we walked up to this big mountain called Likavitos which had the most beautiful view i have ever seen. The white buildings looked like blankets of snow from the height we were at.
After a long day, we arrived back to the hotel. The next day, we did our last shopping and packed our bags. Our flight was at 6:30 and at about 8 we arrived back to Cyprus. I enjoyed my weekend very much and had a lot of fun.

Agree or Disagree

1. I agree with this statement because i think all teenagers around the world go through similar problems when they hit a certain age. When kids become teenagers, they all suffer from hormones and most go through a rough stage. This doesn't change between countries because this is part of life and we all go through these changes at some point in our life.

3. I agree and dissagree with this statement. I agree because it is possible for most people that have problems to solve them if they have a strong will, however hard it is. I think that if you are strong enough and set your mind on something that will make you happy, you can gain happiness. I dissagree with this statement because people with very serious problems like the children in Africa who have no food and are very sick, can be extremely hard to find happiness because it is almost impossible to solve their problems by themselves.
